Onion Blossom — see below: |
INSTRUCTIONS
Take a LARGE onion. (pref. 18 - 20 oz. in size) Cut off top piece and peel
leaving the root attached. Make a slice down the onion to about1/2 to 3/4
inches from the root. Completely slice the onion approx. 1/2 in appart in
thickness. Place in an ice bath to allow to bloom. (about 1/2 hr.) Prepare
a batter. whatever kind doesn't matter. (they used a bag mix) them place in
seasoned flour ( flour, paprika, powdered garlic, etc. ) and make sure that
the flour is in all the pieces. Place in a deep-fat fryer (or equivalent)
in a swirling motion. This allows the onion to spread out or "Blossom".
Remove when GD&B (Golden Brown & Delicious). Drain and serve with an
dressing made from mayo, horseradish and spices. Again the spices are up to
you but see flour to get the idea of what to use. That's all there is to
it.
