11 | oz | Stale bread or rolls |
2 | oz | Butter or lard |
2 | Eggs | |
1 | t | Baking powder |
Salt to taste |
INSTRUCTIONS
Cut rolls or bread into very thin slices. Pour hot, melted fat & milk over bread & soak for 1 hour. Beat in eggs & baking powder & season with salt to taste. With wet hands, shape mixture into dumplings. Put dumplings into boiling, salted water & return water to a boil. Reduce heat & simmer 20 minutes. Pour browned butter over dumplings.
