INGREDIENTS

3 lb Green cabbage
4 T Unsalted butter
1/2 Stick
1/2 c Water
1 t Sugar
1 T Salt
1/2 t Freshly ground black pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

Cut the cabbage into quarters.  Remove any wilted and discolored outer
leaves and cut out the core from the cabbage pieces.  Cut the cabbage
into a large (1-inch) dice. Heat the butter and water to simmering in
a 4-quart pot.  Stir in the cabbage, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cover
the pot and cook the cabbage, stirring occasionally, until the  cabbage
