INGREDIENTS
1 | c | All-purpose flour, sifted |
1/2 | t | Baking soda |
1 | c | Quick-cooking rolled oats |

3/4 | c | Brown sugar |
1/2 | c | Butter, melted |
1 | c | Semi-sweet chocolate chips |
1/2 | c | Chopped nuts |
24 | Vanilla caramels | |
1 | c | Whipping cream |
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 350øF. Combine flour, baking soda, rolled oats, brown sugar and melted butter. Mix well. Press 1/2 of this mixture into a 13x9" baking pan. Bake for 8 minutes. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Melt caramels with cream over low heat, stirring occasionally; pour over chips and nuts. Sprinkle remaining oat mixture over top. Bake for 20 minutes. Yield: 3 to 4 dozen * If you substitute large-flake rolled oats, chop by hand or in a food processor until texture of quick-cooking oats.
