INGREDIENTS
2 | oz | Self-raising flour |
1 1/2 | t | Level baking powder |
pn | Salt | |
1/2 | oz | Soft brown sugar |
2 | oz | Medium oatmeal |
1 | oz | Butter |
1 | T | Black treacle |
1 | Egg, well beaten | |
1/4 | pt | Milk, scant |
INSTRUCTIONS
Sieve the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl and stir in the sugar and the oatmeal. Gently melt the butter and black treacle together in a pan. Add to the dry ingredients and stir in with the well beaten egg and the milk. Heat a thick frying pan or griddle and grease lightly. Drop teaspoons of the mixture on to the pan; as soon as bubbles appear on the surface turn over and cook the other side. Serve hot with butter.
