Suffering

TOPICAL STUDY

SUFFERING

LUK 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

LUK 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

JOH 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

JOH 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

JOH 11:50 Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

JOH 11:51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;

JOH 11:52 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.

ACT 9:16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

ROM 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

ROM 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

ROM 5:7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

ROM 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

ROM 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

ROM 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

ROM 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

ROM 8:20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

ROM 8:21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

ROM 8:22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

ROM 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

ROM 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

ROM 14:15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

1CO 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

1CO 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

1CO 1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

1CO 1:24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

1CO 4:12 And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:

1CO 8:11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?

1CO 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

2CO 1:7 And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.

2CO 4:11 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

2CO 4:12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you.

2CO 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

2CO 4:14 Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.

2CO 4:15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.

2CO 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

2CO 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

2CO 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

2CO 5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

2CO 5:15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

GAL 1:4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

GAL 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

GAL 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

EPH 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

EPH 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

PHI 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

PHI 2:27 For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

PHI 2:28 I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.

PHI 2:29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:

PHI 2:30 Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.

PHI 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

COL 1:24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church:

1TH 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

1TH 5:10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

2TH 1:4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

2TH 1:5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

2TI 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

HEB 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

HEB 2:10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

HEB 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

HEB 2:18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

HEB 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

HEB 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

HEB 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

HEB 9:16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

HEB 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

HEB 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

HEB 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

HEB 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

HEB 10:20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

JAM 5:10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

1PE 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

1PE 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

1PE 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

1PE 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

1PE 4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

1PE 4:14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

1PE 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

1JO 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
