Work Like The Devil And What Do 56 BC-30-4A “WORK LIKE THE DEVIL AND WHAT DO YOU GET?” Mt. 13:24-30 (v. 25)
INTRODUCTION:
- This parable is given to tell us about the kingdom of heaven
- Verses 37-43 explain the parable
- The field is the world
- The good seed are the children of the kingdom
- The tares are the children of the wicked one
- The harvest is the end of the world
- The reapers are the angels of heaven
- The Son of Man sows the good seed
- Satan is the enemy that sows tares. Let us look at them:
- SATAN SOWS TARES OF DOUBT
- Doubt each other
- Doubt God’s love or concern for us
- Doubt God
- If you doubt God, you will rebel against His kingdom
II. SATAN SOWS TARES OF REBELLION
- Say “NO” to commands of holiness (even to salvation)
- Say “NO” to requests to work in some ministry
- Say “NO” to those in authority over us in the Lord
- Those who refuse to subject themselves to authority will resent that authority
III. SATAN SOWS TARES OF HATRED
- Hatred is common in the world
- But LOVE is commanded of God’s seed
- According to the DAVIS DICTIONARY OF THE BIBLE, tares is a Greek word denoting the bearded darnel which is a “poisonous grass, almost undistinguishable from wheat while the two are only in blade, but which can be separated without difficulty when they come into ear.”
- Tares may look like wheat but they are still poison
IV. SATAN’S WORK WAS DONE “WHILE MEN SLEPT”
- Sleep of carelessness
- In the way life is lived
- In a lack of concern for others
- Sleep of postponement
- We must WAKE UP or Satan will sow tares around us
