We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

There never was a person who did anything worth doing, who did not receive more than he gave.
Henry Ward Beecher

When we think of sobriety, what naturally comes to mind is not being intoxicated by a substance (often alcohol). Specifically, we are called not to be drunk with alcohol, but to be filled with the Holy Spirit (Eph. 5:18). Alcohol or any substance has the ability to control us which in turn causes us to lose control. In general, Christians are called to be sober-minded (1 Pet. 1:13). This speaks of the mind regarding anything that leads us into a state of spiritual intoxication. The fruit of the Spirit is self-control. Christians are called to be temperate, we could say level-headed, biblically evaluating all things, clear-minded, sober in spirit.

CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
Grains, Vegetables Breads, Doughnuts 1 Servings

INGREDIENTS

1 tb Dried yeast
1 ts Sugar or honey
1 c Warm water
8 oz (225 g) ww flour
1/2 ts Salt
Olive or vegetable oil for
Deep-frying
Honey
Powdered cinnamon

INSTRUCTIONS

Mix water, sugar, yeast, and 2 oz flour until smooth. Let rise until
doubles in size. Add the salt and the rest of the flour, and enough
water to make a thick batter. Cover and allow to rise again and begin
to bubble. This takes 1 - 2 hours.
Heat the oil in a deep-frying pan (I used a wok) and when the oil is
hot drop in tsp size balls of batter. The dough will puff up and turn
light brown. Remove with a strainer and put on a serving dish. Spoon
honey or syrup (I heated the honey to make it runnier) over the
doughnuts and sprinkle with cinnamon powder. Serve hot.
** Next time I plan to add cinnamon and nutmeg to the batter along
with the flour to give them more spice.
