Biblical guidelines for evaluating the exercise of our personal convictions: 1. Does it Glorify God? Isaiah 43:7, 1 Corinthians 10:31, John 15:8. 2. Can it be done in the name of Jesus? Colossians 3:17. 3. Does it cause a weaker brother to stumble? Romans 14:15, 21, Matthew 18:6-9, 1 Corinthians 8:9-13. 4. Is it profitable for you? I Corinthians 6:12. 5. Does it involve wrong company which may lead you astray? 1 Corinthians 15:33, Psalm 1:1. 6. Does it have the appearance of evil or make provision for the flesh? 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22, Romans 13:14. 7. Can it be done for the Lord? Colossians 3:23. 8. Do you have any doubts about it? Romans 14:23. 9. Would your parents understand this activity to be honoring to them? (How do you find out? ASK THEM!) Ephesians 6:2-3. 10. Is it something you would like to reap in the life of your children? Galatians 6:7-8. 11. Are you willing to face it in judgment? 2 Corinthians 5:10.

Of course, you are not such wiseacres as to think or say that you can expound Scripture without assistance from the works of divines and learned men who have labored before you… It seems odd, that certain men who talk so much of what the Holy Spirit reveals to themselves, should think so little of what he has revealed to others… A respectable acquaintance with the opinions of the giants of the past, might have saved many an erratic thinker from the wild interpretations and outrageous inferences.

INGREDIENTS

3 c (about) bread flour
2 tb Sugar
1 Package fast-rising dry yeast
1/2 ts Salt
3/4 c Milk
1/2 c (1 stick) unsalted butter
2 1/2 c Golden raisins
1 Egg yolk beaten with 1 tablespoon water (glaze)

INSTRUCTIONS

Mix 2 1/2 cups flour, sugar, yeast and salt in large bowl. Bring milk and
butter to simmer in medium saucepan, stirring until butter melts. Cool to
125 degrees to 130 degrees. Stir into dry ingredients. Mix in enough
remaining flour to form soft dough. Turn out onto floured surface and knead
until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Lightly oil large bowl. Add
dough, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in warm draft-free area until
doubled in volume, about 1 1/2 hours. Lightly grease baking sheet. Punch
down dough. Knead in raisins. Shape dough into 7-inch-diameter round. Place
on prepared sheet. Cover with towel and let rise in warm area until almost
doubled in volume, about 40 minutes. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Brush
bread with egg glaze. Bake until bread is golden and sounds hollow when
tapped on bottom, about 45 minutes. Transfer to rack and cool. (Can be made
1 day ahead. Wrap tightly; store at room temperature.)Subj: Potato Baps
