We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Let’s confess our sins to one another and pray for one another. No one grows in isolation. We grow in safe community. Sadly, such an experience is rare in our churches. It should be common among us gospel people. It should be our lifestyle. We should be obvious, even scandalous, as friends of sinners. But so often, someone must break the ice. I see no revival in our future without a new culture of confession. Personally, I have found a good way to measure my own honesty is the level of my embarrassment. If I’m not embarrassed by my confession, I’m still holding out. But it is freeing to come clean with a brother or sister and receive the ministry of prayer (James 5:16).

Press right home to your conscience the question, “What do I have of the mind of Christ?” Does my heart answer, does my disposition correspond, to the holy, meek, humble, forgiving, benevolent, patient, self-denying mind of Christ? Do men who know the beauty and glory of the Original, as it is delineated on the page of the gospel, when they see me, say, “There is the image of Christ!” Or do they look skeptically on, and after standing in silence for some time, profess they can see little or no resemblance? Oh, be satisfied with nothing short of a copy of Christ’s heart into yours!

INGREDIENTS

2 c Old-fashioned; (not quick) oats
1 c Shredded coconut
1/2 c Wheat germ
1 1/2 c Chopped walnuts or almonds
1 ts Salt
1 cn (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
1/4 c Oil
1 1/2 c Raisins

INSTRUCTIONS

This is an old recipe from the Sun-Maid Raisin company that my son (he's 9
now) and I have made for years together. He's picky; it's good. You can add
spices (cinnamon or nutmeg) with the oil, too.
Combine oats, coconut, wheat germ, nuts and salt in a large bowl. Stir in
condensed milk; add oil and mix thoroughly. Spread mixture on shallow
baking pan lined with waxed paper. Bake in 300 degree oven, stirring
occasionally, 1 hour or until golden. Remove from oven and stir in raisins
while still warm. Store in a tightly covered container. Makes 8 cups.
