We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

We are all out of our depth in pastoral work. Our confidence must never be in our expertise or training or experience, but in God’s ability to use frail instruments filled with His Spirit. For this reason all pastoral work must be linked with prayer. Without the enabling grace of God, no encouragement, exhortation, admonition, or spiritual counsel will do any good; they must be backed by prayer (cf. Romans 15:5-6) (Derek Prime and Alistair Begg).

The flesh hates everything about God. Since it resists everything about God, it resists every way we try to taste Him and know Him and love Him. And the more something enables us to find God and feast on Him, the more violently the flesh fights against it. It takes its battle to every quarter of the soul: When the mind wants to know God, the flesh imposes ignorance, darkness, error and trivial thoughts. The will can't move toward God without feeling the weight of stubbornness holding it back. And the affections, longing to long for God, are constantly fighting the infection of sensuality or the disease of indifference.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil,
folding the foil over the edge. Grease the foil lightly. Arrange graham
wafers in a single layer over the foil. Scatter almonds and raisins over
wafers. In a saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add brown sugar and
bring mixture almost to a boil. Cook, stirring, for three minutes. Take off
heat and stir in the vanilla. Pour hot glaze over almonds and raisins. You
don't have to spread it out completely (it will spread during baking). Bake
