We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

If you have been truly born again you have a new and holy nature, and you are no longer moved towards sinful objects as you were before. The things that you once loved you now hate, and therefore you will not run after them. You can hardly understand it but so it is, that your thoughts and tastes are radically changed. You long for that very holiness which once it was irksome to hear of; and you loathe those vain pursuits which were once your delights. The man who puts his trust in the Lord sees the pleasures of sin in a new light. For he sees the evil which follows them by noting the agonies which they brought upon our Lord when He bore our sins in His own body on the tree. Without faith a man says to himself, 'This sin is a very pleasant thing, why should I not enjoy it? Surely I may eat this fruit, which looks so charming and is so much to be desired.' The flesh sees honey in the drink, but faith at once perceives that there is poison in the cup. Faith spies the snake in the grass and gives warning of it. Faith remembers death, judgment, the great reward, the just punishment and that dread word, eternity.
C.H. Spurgeon

To really make a difference, to really receive the abundant life promised to us, to really be used by God in the world, we need to take radical steps of faith every day. Ask yourself, where does your faith (to the point it stretches you) differ from an unbeliever? We are far too easily pleased with lesser joys! Do we have the faith to leave the kiddy pool and move out into deeper waters? Do we have the faith to expect great things from God? Often we are often not given the details and there are often hardships along the way, but the life of faith is the life that marks God’s children.

Dairy Travels, A, La, Carte 8 servings

INGREDIENTS

900 g Boned and skinned fresh haddock
250 ml Full-cream milk
2 tb Cornflour
Freshly grated nutmeg
3 tb Chopped fresh parsley
Salt
250 ml Creme fraiche or soured cream mixed with
; double cream

INSTRUCTIONS

Cut the fish up roughly and process in 3 batches with just enough of the
milk to smooth it out. Keep processing in several long bursts, scraping
down the sides of the bowl every now and then, until the puree is very
smooth. Scoop into a bowl to finish the mixing by hand - this apparently is
where the skill comes into it and cannot be replicated in a processor!
Sprinkle over the cornflour, nutmeg, parsley and salt and mix evenly.
Mix the remaining milk with the creme fraiche, and slowly beat it into the
fish mixture a little at a time until it is light and fluffy.
Chill the fish mixture for 30 minutes in the refrigerator. Shape generous
tablespoons of it into small flat, round cakes about 1cm thick. Fry in
butter or butter and oil until browned.
