APRIL 29
In Chronicles the blessings and grace of God toward David,
as establisher of the Temple worship, and his successors on the
throne of Judah, are set forth, down to the Exile. The kings of
Israel are almost completely ignored in this book, which is in
complete contrast to I and II Kings, which interweave the history of
the dual kingdom.
These genealogies are given to show that the Chronicles are
dealing with the true chosen people, descended through Abraham, and
destined to be the line through whom the Messiah was to come. Most
of the genealogies are incomplete, with many breaks in the list, but
the main line is there; those which are significant to the
accomplishment of God’s purpose.
