Coming to Christ means I die to self. It’s allowing Christ to reign as Lord in my heart and desiring to see Him live His will through me. It’s death to the relentless but never-satisfying quest for affirmation. It’s freedom from the vain need to promote self. It’s separation from fight to find personal worth and identity. Fighting less for my rights. Decreasing so He increases in me. It’s finding approval in Him and realizing the true fulfillment in living for His glory. Death to self so life might live within us. When the pride goes so does the selfish agendas and the traits like the bitterness, the jealousy, the unforgiving spirits, the critical attitudes. Christ reigns resulting in joy and peace. Eyes are opened to new horizons. Curse is reversed. Life is restored.

Pastors are sinners. They have weaknesses and faults just like church members. This is not to say that they are not to live as an example to the flock (1 Peter 5:3) and are not to have met certain moral qualifications (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9). But we must be realistic about their sinful nature. They will continually do battle with the old nature which is still part of their lives, and will do so as long as they live. Total victory over sin will not be won in this life. Sanctification will take place; victories will occur; bad habits and sins will be overcome – but there will be many battles to fight until the day of glory… Remember that your pastor and his family constantly live in a fishbowl for all the church to see – and sometimes the sight is not going to be particularly attractive. They are humans also!

Tagliatelle With Fromage Frais And Parma Ham

INGREDIENTS

350 g Dried tagliatelle, 12oz
45 Olive oil, 3tbsp
115 g Waitrose Parma Ham, cut into
thin
strips 4oz
4 Shallots, finely chopped
2 Cloves garlic, crushed
55 g Waitrose Sun-Dried tomatoes
in oil drained and cut
into strips 2oz
Salt and freshly ground
black pepper
1 250 g carton Waitrose Creamy
Natural
Fromage Frais
30 Fresh basil, chopped 2tbsp
25 g Pine kernels, toasted 1oz

INSTRUCTIONS

Cook the pasta in a large pan of boiling water according to the
instructions on the pack.  Meanwhile, heat the oil in a frying pan, add
the Parma ham and fry  for 1 minute until crisp.  Remove the ham and
set aside. Add the shallots and cook gently for 5  minutes until soft
then add the garlic and tomatoes and cook for a  further 2 minutes.
Return the ham to the pan to keep hot.  Season the fromage frais. Drain
the pasta and return to the pan. Stir  in the ham and tomato mixture
then stir in the fromage frais and  basil. Mix well then transfer to a
heated serving dish and scatter  with pine kernels.  Converted by
MC_Buster.  NOTES : Fromage frais makes an ideal sauce for any pasta,
but it is  important that it is added to the hot pasta at the last
minute and not  overheated. For an even quicker dish, fresh pasta could
be used  instead of dried. Bacon could be used in place of the Parma
