God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

When all were in their places Father said grace and, excusing himself, left the family to retire to his study. He frequently spent thirteen hours a day studying. He managed this amazing amount of time by husbanding every hour of the day. He usually arose at four in the morning, indulging himself in the later rising time of five in the winter. In this way he was far along in his studies while the household slept. He preferred to eat alone, usually certain foods which he had by experimentation discovered kept his mind and body most sprightly. This morning he did not eat the rich menu which Venus set before the rest of the household, the home-cured bacon and the delicious hot breads. But at the end of the meal, he rejoined his family for morning devotions.

“Luck!” There is no such thing in our world, none in nature, none in human affairs. Luck means that an event has no cause at all. It is a bad word – a heathen term. Drop it from your vocabulary! Trust nothing to luck, and expect nothing from it. Avoid all practical dependence upon it or its kindred words: fate, chance, fortune. Never forget your dependence upon God. He can exalt you to prosperity – or sink you into the lowest depth of adversity. He can make everything to which you set your hand to prosper – or to fail. Devoutly acknowledge this. Abhor the atheism that shuts God out of His own world!

Great, uplifting, family film to watch on Groundhog Day

There's enough time to run out to your local Christian bookstore and pick up this well done movie by Christian producer/actor David A. R. White, which also stars his wife, Logan White, acting as his wife in this movie "In the Blink of an Eye".

Amazon.com describes the movie:  "What was supposed to be the perfect vacation comes to a horrific crossroad for Detective David Ramsey. Aboard a private yacht on the shimmering Sea of Cortez, his wife and friends suddenly disappear. During the investigation, David begins to unravel the evidence surrounding a worldwide Nostradomic event revealed in ancient Biblical prophecies."

What I liked about this movie, was that David and his wife's marriage is reconciled, and David comes to Christ – and especially, that this is how the movie "Goundhog Day" should have been written – focusing on the eternal values of God.
