II. THE BEST TEXTS FOR THOSE WHO WISH TO KNOW HOW TO BE SAVED

  1. Show them Jesus Christ as a Sin Bearer, the Savior from the guilt of sin.

ISA 53:6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

1PE 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

GAL 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”

1JO 4:10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

1JO 2:2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

COL 1:19-20 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

EPH 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace

ROM 5:6-11 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

2. Show them Jesus Christ as a Risen Savior, the Savior from the power of

sin.

1CO 15:1-4 Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.

MAT 28:18, 20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. . .and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

MAT 1:21 “She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

ROM 7:20-21, 23-25 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. . .but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God–through Jesus Christ our Lord!

JUD 1:24-25 To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy–to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

ISA 41:10, 13 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. . .For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

1PE 1:5 . . .Who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

PHI 4:13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

3. Show them Jesus Christ as an Everliving Intercessor.

1JO 2:1 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense–Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.

ROM 8:34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died–more than that, who was raised to life–is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

HEB 7:25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

4. Show them that all they have to do to make this Savior and Everliving

Intercessor their Savior from guilt of sin and from the power of sin and their Everliving Intercessor is just to receive Him or believe on Him as such and confess Him before the world.

JOH 1:12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.

ACT 16:31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved–you and your household.”

JOH 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

ISA 45:21-22 Declare what is to be, present it–let them take counsel together. Who foretold this long ago, who declared it from the distant past? Was it not I, the LORD? And there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me. “Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.”

ROM 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

JOH 3:36 “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.”

ACT 10:43 “All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

ACT 13:39 Through him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses.
