We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

If we cannot prevail with men for God, we will, at least, endeavor to prevail with God for men.
C.H. Spurgeon

Less than half of 1% of all abortions are for rape. As horrible and devastating as rape is, I do not believe it justifies abortion. 1. It is not morally right to punish the child for the sin of his/her father. 2. While rape is an act of violence against the mother, so too is abortion. 3. It is never right to commit murder to alleviate suffering. It is not right to require the child to forfeit life in order to ameliorate the mother’s pain. 4. A child conceived by rape is no less human, no less a person with dignity and value, than a child conceived in love. Nowhere in Scripture is a person's right to life conditional on how one’s life began.

DansGuardian – a Content-filtering Web Proxy for Linux

by Glen on 2001-01-27 00:34:28

WAY back on May 21, 1999 I posted a message here mentioning Active Guardian
and the need for a programmer to get it working. Active Guardian is/was a
Content Filtering web proxy – not only did it block PORN and other smut sites
by URL, it also blocked them by PICS rating and text content (words).

I’m extremely pleased to let you know about a new development called
DansGuardian, which is free to home users and IT folks employed by educational
institutions (directly – not contract) to install and use. DansGuardian
does everything Active Guardian claimed to do, but was SO SLOW at doing.
In addition, DansGuardian runs and compiles just fine on RedHat (which
implies Mandrake 🙂 Which PICS rating services does it support?

  • evaluWEB.
  • ICRA.
  • Microsystems Software’s Cyber Patrol CyberNOT List.
  • RSAC.
  • SafeSurf.
  • Weburbia

URL filtering is handled by SquidGuard – another excellent tool –
and the actual web proxy is Squid.

If you download and use it, please be sure to give the author, Dan Barron,
a big THANK YOU for his work! Content filtering solutions for Linux are
few and far between.
