Nowhere in Scripture do we have the slightest hint that God’s people are to volunteer. Rather, the Scriptures indicate that the use of our gifts should be considered a joyful responsibility.
So, why do we serve in the church? One, because we are a spiritual body and each “body” part needs to perform his or her function. Two, we are commanded to serve by the Lord. Three, there will be accountability. Consequences toward those who refuse to use their gifts and rewards toward those who faithful discharge them as a good steward. Four, it is an honor and joy to be used by the Lord to build His eternal kingdom. And five, we want to see our investment in a person or persons to witness their spiritual fruit (Rom 1:13).
Beat egg whites until stiff. Mix thoroughly with almond paste and salt.
Add sugar and beat thoroughly. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto slightly oiled
baking sheet. Bake in moderate oven (375 F) about 15 minutes. Remove from
oven. Set baking sheet on wet towel for a few minutes. Remove macaroons
with a wide spatula. The almond paste may be made by pounding 2 1/2 cups
shelled blanched almonds until a paste is formed.
