God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Turn the despair of being alone into the wonder of being alone with God

Bible Reading: JUL15: Proverbs 13-15

JULY 15

Proverbs 14:12 says, “There is a way which seemeth right
unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” One of the
curses of Christless religion is that it all seems to be so right
and proper. The natural mind would conclude that if a person lived a
fairly decent upright life, paid his taxes, gave to the Red Cross,
and even attended church perhaps on Easter and Christmas, that he
would then be acceptable to God. But of course this is not the case.
Ephesians 2:8,9 tells us, “For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works,
lest any man should boast.” All religions seem right, but all
religions end in death. There is a difference between religion and
Christianity. Religion is man searching after God’ Christianity is
God searching after man.

Are you trusting in baptism, good works, church membership,
etc., to get you into heaven? We close each service with that
beloved old Gospel invitational hymn by Fanny Crosby, “Just As I
Am.” If you have not come to Jesus “just as you are,” then you are
among that group who is following a way which only seems right to
man, but is leading to death. Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth,
and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
