We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

In a way completely incomprehensible to the human mind, Jesus Christ not only became the God-man in the incarnation but also will forever continue to be that. As High Priest, He continually intercedes for all those He saves. Because a priest must represent both God and men, He could not have been believers’ High Priest apart from His deigning to become a man. If He had never been touched with the feelings of their infirmities, including being tempted in every way as they are, He could not have fully identified with them and thereby been able to encourage, strengthen, and encourage them in their temptations.
John MacArthur

It is interesting to note that secular approaches have embraced an approach to confrontation that mirrors church discipline. It is technically called intervention. In essence it says that we can no longer wait for people to destroy themselves and others. They must be presented with the facts about their problem. They are out of touch with reality and need others to present it to them. Furthermore, this is best done by a group of people who deeply love the substance abuser. Curiously, intervention is hailed as one of the most significant advances in drug treatment. Yet church discipline is the original and intervention the imitator.

Bible Reading: OCT21: Luke 1

Chapter 1 is the story of two couples which receive an
angelic visitation. Zachariah and Elisabeth are both beyond
child bearing years yet they are told by the angel they shall
have a son whom they shall name John. He is to be the forerunner
of Jesus the Christ. Six months thereafter, Mary, though only
engaged to be married, receives a similar announcement but one
which will change history for ever. When she is told she shall
give birth, she learns it will be a miraculous virgin birth.
Joseph, her husband-to-be, is likewise informed of the coming
events and given instructions.

We should note the contrast between Zachariah and Mary when
they were told by God’s heavenly messenger of the coming events.
The chapter is one dedicated to belief in God’s Word and the
results of such commitment to His Word when received.
