INGREDIENTS

1/2 c Butter
1 c Sugar
2 Eggs
1/2 c Mashed potatoes
1/2 c Milk
1 1/3 c All-purpose flour
3 ts Baking powder
1 pn Salt
1/2 c Cocoa
1 ts Vanilla

INSTRUCTIONS

This is a recipe taken from a Magic Baking Powder promotional booklet aimed
at the Canadian market.  Though there is no date on it, the cars in the
graphics are pre 1950, I think perhaps the 1920s or 30s.  This was one of
"Six Prize Winning Recipes: Each recipe on this page won a first prize of
$250.00 in the National Mystery Cake Contest."
Cream butter with 1/3 cup sugar.  Beat egg whites stiffly and add 1/2 cup
sugar.  Put aside.  Beat egg yolks with remaining sugar and add to first
mixture, heating well.  Mix in lightly the egg whites.  Flavor with
vanilla. Pour in cake pans, well greased, and cook from 25 to 30 minutes in
oven
375    F. Spread marshmallow between layers and cover cake with Foaming
Icing.
