We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Ten biblical benefits of fearing God in the life of the believer: 1. Fearing God leads to wisdom (Pr. 1:7; Job 28:28). 2. Fearing God leads to joy (Pr. 28:14; Psm. 112:1; 115:13). 3. Fearing God leads to safety (Psm. 115:11; Pr. 14:26). 4. Fearing God leads to life (Pr. 14:27; 19:23). 5. Fearing God keeps us from evil (Pr. 16:6; 8:13). 6. Fearing God leads to His instruction (Psm. 25:12). 7. Fearing God leads to His love (Psm. 103:11). 8. Fearing God leads to His compassion (Psm. 103:13). 9. Fearing God leads to His mercy (Lk. 1:50). 10. And fearing God leads to His favor (Psm. 147:11).

EXORCISM

BASIC R.C. BELIEF The driving out of the devil in cases of possession according to a special rite of the Church. The priest must have the express consent of his Bishop to perform an exorcism. Lesser exorcisms, which do not imply possession, are performed in the exorcism of salt and water in the making of the Holy Water.

SECULAR JOURNALS From USA TODAY, 3/6/90. “Outspoken Cardinal John O’Connor of New York surprised theologians when he said Sunday there have been two exorcisms in the New York archdiocese in recent months.

“`We hope, as far as we know, they have been successful,’ he said in his sermon at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. He gave no details of the exorcisms.

“`If you asked most bishops in the country “Who is your exorcist?” they probably wouldn’t have one. It’s an ad hoc thing,’ said Rev. James Burtchell, theology professor at Notre Dame University. `Probably a number of bishops would be surprised to hear there were two in New York.'”
