We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

The Bible is not the basis of missions; missions is the basis of the Bible.
Ralph Winter

Every man who approaches Christ seems to feel the same thing – He is the ideal of that man. To the artist Christ is the One altogether lovely. To the educator He is the master teacher. To the philosopher He is the wisdom of God. To the lonely, He is a brother; to the sorrowful, a comforter; and to the bereaved, the resurrection and the life. To the sinner, He is the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.

This is a simple scripture study, asking some basic questions about forgiving sin.

Who sins? 1 Kings 8:46

Why does God care about our sin? Matt 18:14

Why should we care about our sin? Gen 4:6-7, Matt 12:36-39, Luke 16:22-25

What did God do about our sin? Matt 11:28-30, John 3:16, Matt 20:28, Matt 9:12-13

What should we do about our sin? Matt 4:17, Acts 2:38-39

What should we do about others’ sin? (what did Jesus do – he’s our example)

  • Matt 18:18-22
    • – bind and loose what?
    • – 2-2 agree about what? What is the context!?
  • 2-3 & Jeuss in midst = authority to deal with sin where?

Which is more important, to heal or to forgive sin? Matt 9:1-6

What is the great commission?

  • Luke 24:47 Sins and what? (clothed, preach, repentance, forgiveness)
  • Mark 16:15 Preaching & Miracles (preach, believe, baptized, saved)
  • Matt 28:19-20 (make disciples, baptizing in name of…, teaching)

John 14:12-14 What is the goal and condition of Jesus doing what we ask? (this is one example of only a few places mentioned)

Acts 26:16-18 Our responsibility as Christians is to bear witness so that their eyes might be opened and they would turn, find forgiveness, and be sanctified in faith.
