Fwd: CHRISTIAN CONNECTION SUPPLEMENT 06-03

Posted by: masinick <masinick@...>

Dear friends,
.
I thought I would send you an extra message this weekend to encourage
you in your daily thoughts, prayers, and struggles. I am enjoying a
fine weekend. Today, I had a small party to celebrate my recent
wedding to my bride, Brenda. We had a small, quiet wedding back on
May 24.

As we celebrated our day together today, I found out that my accountability
partner also got married on the same day --- except he beat us to it by
TWO WHOLE HOURS. This dear brother in Christ had told me that he expected
to marry soon, but theirs would be a quiet "elopement". When I told him
that I was getting married on the 24th, he told me he couldn't make it.
He didn't tell me WHY until today. What a surprise! I'm really glad,
not only for my own situation, but for my friend as well.

Both of us had made many ill-advised choices in the past, and had failed
to yield to the directions in which God had been leading us. It has taken
a lot of time and a lot of healing for both of us. Today, we celebrated
what God can do, even in such brokenness. We did not give our best to
God, not at first, anyway, but God gave His VERY BEST to us, and demonstrated
His love for us.

Do you remember John Lennon? I remember him well. I often used to listen
to the Beatle's music, and to John Lennon's music after he left the
Beatles. He was a very talented musician, but a spiritually misguided
man.

Do you remember his song, "Imagine?" It sounded SO good --- that is,
until you REALLY LISTENED to what his song was proposing, then it sounded
TERRIBLE. He said,

"Imagine all the people living life in peace..." that sounded pretty
good. But then, he imagined a life with no religion, loose, "free love",
and all the typical "hippie" mumbo jumbo of the day. No responsibility,
no accountability for actions and decisions. It might sound good --- but
not to me.

I've learned much, some even from following such "lame theology". It
doesn't work, my friends. What DOES work is the wholesome, honest,
beautiful, acceptable, and pleasing love of God, the Father of all
Creation. It is in Him that I have my first love, and it is in Him
that I am able to love another, even my wife.

Brother Brian
