A Word for Worship

Posted by: bneumann848 <bneumann848@...>

Meanwhile, the eleven disciples were on their way to Galilee, headed for
the mountain Jesus had set for their reunion.  The moment they saw Him they worshiped Him.  Some, though, held back, not sure about worship,
about risking themselves totally.  (Matthew 28:16 The Message)

Those who have followed these devotionals for a while (thank you!) know that I have searched for an accurate definition of worship.  Our modern church society has a splattered understanding of the concept, labeling as worship everything from the Sunday morning service time itself to a selection of the latest YouTube favorites to greeting the guests in church.  Needless to say, there is so much more.

The word I have searched for was discovered recently.  That word is adoration.  The dictionary defines adore as to love deeply or intensely.  You might call it loving with abandon.  Worship goes beyond the limitations of the mind.  It brings us to a place of vulnerability before Him, pouring out the treasure of our heart upon Him.  Worship is risking ourselves to gain Him.  It is face-to-face with God.  Don;t worry; you are safe there.
