I think the poem title is blocking it from going
through the system. So I changed it in the subject
line. We'll see if that works.

OUT OF THE OFFICE
by J. Randal Matheny

Books in big boxes and piles of old papers,
Not my idea of movers and shakers,
Putting me out of my office and station,
Doing a general house renovation.

When, my dear chums, can I think of returning,
Back to my teaching, writing, and learning?
Hasten the day by your quick and skilled tooling;
Meanwhile my heart's sick, my lips are drooling.

I've sent old friends and small children to storage,
Volumes and tomes by themselves to find forage!
How could I part with my brokers of knowledge?
Some of them with me since, oh, before college!

Daughter and son will soon leave to go camping,
I'm heading home causing my wife's style cramping.
What will I miss more: my kids or my pages?
Writers must answer this doubt of the ages.

Pining and swooning, I'll keep on computing,
Dining room table-ing, no more commuting.
Days turn to weeks as I'm "patiently" waiting,
Hours and minutes my wife's calculating!

2. What did you think of the poem? Let me know.

Maybe by tomorrow night, I'll have my post on the
Cloudburst forum explaining why I'm having to
vacate my office for days or weeks. Right now, I'm
moving! For real!

Oh, on my blog, a quatrain, "Trust the Times," a
reaction to a website's recommendation:
