David's words paint a peaceful picture: a lush pasture, a gentle stream, grazing sheep, and a shepherd's watchful eye. How far removed this picture can seem from life in 2003. The one constant, however, between David's beloved words and our turbulent world is the Shepherd. The Shepherd is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). The Shepherd will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). The Shepherd loves you tenderly and passionately. Are you resting in His care?

Heavenly Father, You are my Shepherd. You graciously provide everything I have need of. You restore my weary soul. No matter how dark the valley or how rough the terrain, You are there to guide and comfort me. No matter what the enemy might bring against me, it can't hinder Your plan for me. Gentle Shepherd, please keep me in your tender care. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
