Steve Hewett, Editor-in-Chief of Christian Computing Magazine, has asked me
to make an announcement that should please you all.
As we have all noticed, the CCMag list server service has been, at best,
spotty -- which is a real source of frustration to all of us who have grown
to count on solid advice and assistance from our fellow subscribers for all
our computing needs. Steve has been trying to obtain a subscriber list
from the current home, ChristianEMailService, and the subscriber list has
not been forthcoming.
Many of you may already subscribe to a list hosted by Associate.com
(alternate domain name: WeLoveGod.org). I have had one of the lists I
manage there for quite some time, with EXCELLENT service, and Steve has
given me the authorization to take whatever action needed to initiate service.
For a couple weeks now, we've been set up on the new server, but haven't
been able to move without the current subscriber list. We decided to move
anyway, but IT WILL TAKE ACTION ON YOUR PART.
--->In order to continue your subscription to this e-mail list, you MUST
resubscribe to the new server. Subscribing is simple, too. Just send ANY
message to:
CCMag-subscribe@WeLoveGod.org
OR, for the digest,
CCMag-digest-subscribe@WeLoveGod.org
You will then receive a confirmation to the subscribe that you MUST reply
to in order to begin receiving the list traffic.
Moving to this new server has several advantages:
1) The e-mail address of the sender of the message WILL BE IN THE
HEADER. Yippee!
2) With very few exceptions, the server is ALWAYS UP, and messages will be
sent at near real-time, with the time stamp of the date the message was
sent, NOT the time the server gets around to sending.
3) The list software, "ezmlm", is set to accept ONLY plain-text messages,
so those of you who pay per minute for your Internet access won't get big
HTML messages.
Until such time as the majority of you have subscribed to the new server, I
suggest (just for the time being!) that messages be sent to BOTH addresses
of the list: CCMagazine@ChristianEMailService.com (the old address), as
well as the NEW address:
CCMag@WeLoveGod.org
Also, Steve asked that I announce a new feature to our list -- sharing our
questions and answers in the print version of Christian Computing Magazine!
He says:
Christian Computing Magazine feels there is great value in the information
that is shared in our email list. The exchange of questions and answers
that take place here would be very beneficial to others that read the print
magazine. Therefore, we are exploring the idea of having a monthly column
in the print version of CCMag that will share one or two of the best
questions asked each month, as well as one or more of the answers that are
provided. This will also serve as a way for readers of the magazine to
understand the value of this email list, and take advantage of the exchange
of information that takes place here each day.
I have agreed to take on the responsibility as List Servant. As such, I
will be managing the day-to-day administration of CCMag@WeLoveGod.org. For
subscription problems, etc., please write me at the following address:
