Leviticus 19:9-18

ME AND MY NEIGHBOR

Here are Godly ways for me to treat my neighbor.

I WILL BE GENEROUS TO MY NEIGHBOR – Vss. 9-18

I WILL BE HONEST WITH ME NEIGHBOR – Vss. 11-13, 15-16

I WILL BE GRACIOUS TOWARDS MY NEIGHBOR – Vs. 14

I WILL LOVE MY NEIGHBOR – Vss. 17-18

2 SAMUEL 7

WHEN GOD SAID “NO”

·       What are some of the situations in which a parent should say “No” to a child?

·       What are some guidelines for knowing when to say “No” to a child?

·       Should a parent ever change his or her mind after saying “No”?

·       What are some of the situations in which God says “No” to His children?

·       When has God said “No” to you?

·       What must we remember when God says “No” to us?

In 2 Kings 7 we see that David had plans to build God a house (temple).  God said, “No”.  As we study this passage we will see that even when God says “No”, He does not cease to be gracious and to have good reasons for the refusals that He makes.

THERE WAS GOOD RESOLVE – Vss. 1-3

·       Vs. 1 – David had a time of peace.  What are times of peace good for?

·       One of the things that David did in his time of peace was to think and plan.

·       How are thinking and planning good things?

·       Vs. 2 – Nathan the Prophet was a spiritual advisor to King David.  Nathan was a faithful friend who was not afraid to stand up for what is right.  Why do we all need such people in our lives?

·       David’s statement in this verse implied that he was planning to build a permanent building to be the house of God.

·       David realized that he, David, was living in a nice house made of cedar, while God's house was a tent. Remember the ark was a box containing the Ten Commandments, the rod of Aaron, and a jar of manna. On top of the ark was the mercy seat.  God made his physical presence known by dwelling above the mercy seat.

·       Why was David’s resolve a good resolve?

·       Vs. 3 – Nathan was probably thrilled with the prospects of a new house for the Lord.  He could see no reason why God would say “No”.  There are times in our lives when we too have thought something was a good idea until we prayed about it or gave it more consideration.

·       Perhaps Nathan should have prayed about this before he gave his approval.

THERE WAS A SURPRISING REFUSAL– Vss. 4-9

·       Vss. 4-5 – Notice how God refers to David.  Even though God was about to turn David down, it did not mean that David had been demoted in God’s eyes.  Just because God says “No” to us, it does not mean that he thinks any less of us.  We just do not have His plans.

·       David’s motives were actually pure and commendable before God.                                                                 2 Chronicles 6:8  - But the LORD said to David my father, Forasmuch as it was in thine heart to build an house for my name, thou didst well in that it was in thine heart:

·       God is even clearer in his refusal of David’s plans in 1 Chronicles 17:4, where it says, Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not build me an house to dwell in:

·       Vss. 6-7 – What is God’s point in these verses?  What lesson is in it for us?

·       Vss. 8-9 – How had God blessed David?  Why is it important for us to remember how God has blessed us, especially when He says, “No”?

·       Remember that God has different jobs for each one of us. David was primarily a warrior, not a builder.  David’s son was to be the builder.                                                                                                        1 Chronicles 22:8-9 - But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight. [9] Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.

·       We need to remember that God will not give us every job. He has not qualified us for every job. But whatever job God has given us we should do well for Him. Colossians 3:17

THERE WAS COMFORTING REASSURANCE – Vss. 10-17

·       Vss. 10-11 – How are these verses phenomenal promises?

·       David is assured of God’s ultimate plan for Israel and for his house. David should have been able to relax.

·       What Scriptures assure us of God’s ultimate plan for us?

·       Vss. 12-15 – God’s house would be built by Solomon.  David’s desire would be fulfilled.  How should we feel when God chooses to do through someone else what we wanted to do ourselves?

·       Vs. 16 – There will be a time when David’s Kingdom will be established through one of his descendents.                                                                                                                                                              Luke 1:30-33 - And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. [31] And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. [32] He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: [33] And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

·       How would you sum up God’s “No” answer to David?  How would you sum up God’s “No” answers to us?

THERE WAS AN AWED RESPONSE – Vss. 18-29

·       Vs. 18  - David was awed by what God had done for him.

·       Vs. 19 – David was awed by the future promises for his family.

·       Vss. 20-21 – David was awed at God’s revelation towards him.

·       Vs. 22 – David was awed at God’s greatness.+

·       Vss. 23-24 – David was awed at God’s greatness towards Israel.

·       Vss. 25-29 – In these closing requests David expressed acceptance, faith, and desire before God.

·       In what ways should our responses be similar when God says “No” to us?

·       1 Chronicles 29:1-9 shows David’s personal commitment of his own resources to the building of the temple.  Although he would not build the temple, he did what he could to make the building easier. In these verses we also see David’s influence on others in the gathering of resources.  David was not bitter because he couldn’t build the temple.  He was enthusiastic.

COMMUNICATIONS CLINIC - Jesus teaches on prayer

Lesson #2 – PRAYER FOCUS – Matthew 6:9-13

·       Why is it important that our prayers please God?

·       What are some of the challenges that we face when we try to pray to God for any length of time?

·       How do you decide what to pray for?

·       In your opinion, what are the things on God’s heart that He wants you to talk to Him about?

·       How can we guard against the Lord’s Prayer becoming a “vain repetition”? Matthew 6:7-8

As we continue our “Communications Clinic”, we find Jesus giving us a pattern of prayer that teaches how to focus on some of the things that God wants us to bring to Him.  If our prayer focus is right, our prayers are more likely to be effective before God and pleasing to God.

FOCUS ON FATHER

Matthew 6:9-10 - After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. [10] Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

·       Prayer to “our Father” assumes a relationship between father and child.  The only way we can legitimately pray to “our Father” is through being born into his family. John 1:12-13

·       How does addressing “our Father” help us focus our prayers?

·       How does remembering that “our Father” is in Heaven encourage us?

·       As we focus on our Father, we are to worship Him as “Hallowed be thy name” indicates.  Why is worship a key ingredient in our prayers?  Psalm 47:6-7, 103:1-2

·       As we pray “Thy Kingdom come”, we can certainly ask the Lord to return soon, looking forward to His Millennial Kingdom.

·       I also see submission in this phrase.  I should want God to reign in every part of my life, submitting specific habits and issues to Him.  Romans 6:11-13, 12:1

·       I can also pray “Thy Kingdom come” as I pray that God’s reign will come to the lives of unbelievers and disobedient believers.

·       In areas where we are not sure of God’s will, or where we know God’s will and are struggling, we should pray “Thy will be done.”  Remember the example of our Lord Jesus in Matthew 26:39.

·       Why should our submission to God be a priority to us as Christians?

·       How is the will of God carried out in Heaven?  It should be our desire that it is done the same way here on earth.

FOCUS ON FOOD

Matthew 6:11 - Give us this day our daily bread.

·       Why do most people not take this request too seriously?

·       How does this verse and Matthew 6:25-26 compliment each other?

·       Do you think this verse covers more than food?

FOCUS ON FORGIVENESS

Matthew 6:12 - And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Matthew 6:14-15 – For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

·       1 John 1:9 indicates that we should name the specific sins that we are confessing.  Why are they called “debts”?

·       If we are to name our sins before God, it is logical that we should name those we are forgiving before God.

·       When we forgive we are forgiving the “debt” they have to us because they have wronged us.

·       Why is our forgiveness by God tied in to our forgiveness of others?

·       Consider the parable in Matthew 18:22-35. It is certainly reason for us to consider how forgiving we are.

FOCUS ON FREEDOM

Matthew 6:13a - And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

·       Are people ever tempted because they want to be?

·       How does desire to avoid temptation glorify God?

·       To be delivered from evil is to be delivered from the “evil one”.

·       Should we be afraid of Satan’s power, Satan’s influence, or both? Why?

·       We should constantly be looking for deliverance from the power of Satan in our lives.                   1 Peter 5:8-9 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

FOCUS ON FAITH

Matthew 6:13b - For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

·       How is this statement a statement of faith?

·       What is the significance of this statement?

·       God will answer prayers that are offered by faith, in Christ’s name, and for His glory.                   Mark 11:24 - Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

John 14:13-14 - And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Acts 2:37-47

A MODEL CHURCH

I think that it would be great for us to be a model church, one where others would look at us and say, “Now that’s the kind of church I want ours to be!”

If we are going to be a model church, we need a model to follow. That model is found in Acts 2, where we find a description of how things were in the early church.  Here we see the church in Jerusalem getting off to a good start!

Allow me to remind you of something, as we examine this church.  The church consists of people. It is what we do as individuals that will determine what we are like as a church.

Therefore it is important that you and I as individuals follow the example of the model church.

BY WAY OF BACKGROUND

Our Lord Jesus Christ had died for our sins, the just for the unjust. He was crucified. He had been buried. He rose again, and appeared to the Apostles, and others.

Before ascending into heaven, the Lord told His followers to remain In Jerusalem until they were baptized by the Holy Spirit.

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit did take place on the Day of Pentecost. These men were able to speak in understandable languages.

In Acts 2:14-36, Peter gave a Spirit-filled sermon, explaining what happened.  The sermon included the fact that Jesus Christ was the Messiah, and that He had been crucified by them. At the end of this very powerful message, we find the first ingredient of a mighty church.

ONE FAITH Vss. 37-41

The early church had one simple faith that was necessary for any person to be truly considered a part of that local church.  A person needed to be saved, or born-again.  And in those days, a person who trusted Christ was baptized immediately.

Vs. 37 - Notice there is conviction here. The words pricked in the heart mean "sharp pain associated with anxiety and remorse."

When a person is "born again", or saved, or the process begins with a conviction that there is something wrong.

He or she is convicted of sin by the Holy Spirit of God.

He or she is convicted that what or who they had trusted for salvation is inadequate, just not working.

In this case, those who heard Peter's message would have been convicted, that they, as a nation, had rejected and crucified their Messiah!  Among these people were many self-righteous Jews, who were trusting the Law in order to be saved.  They would have been convicted that the Law does not save. It just shows them how guilty they are. They would have been convicted that they needed a Savior.

Today, many people are trusting their good works to save them. But how many good works does it take to qualify for Heaven?

Some people are trusting church membership to save them, but church membership never saved anyone. Neither did Baptism, taking Holy Communion or keeping the Ten Commandments.

God's Holy Spirit convicts of sin.

God's Holy Spirit convicts that the other ways of getting to Heaven, are not ways of getting to Heaven

God's Holy Spirit convicts a person that He or she needs something better than they have in order to have forgiveness and eternal life.

Notice that these men wanted to know, "What shall we do?"

Vs. 38 - Peter gives a simple answer, "REPENT".

It means to have a change of heart.

It is to leave behind, or walk away from your past life of sin and disobedience, and to trust Jesus Christ as your only way to Heaven. John 3:36

I invite you, if you haven't already to turn away from everything else as a means of salvation, and trust Christ alone.

Vs. 38 - Regeneration or being born again produces two things.

The first is remission of sins. When a person turns to faith in Christ his sins are dealt with. His sins are forgiven. They are no longer held against him. His slate, so to speak, is clean. Psalm 32:1

Besides the remission of sins, the gift of the Holy Spirit is also given to each person who trusts Christ as Savior.

Since Pentecost, the baptism of the Holy Spirit has taken place each time a person is born again.

1 Corinthians 12:13

When a person is saved, the Holy Spirit takes up permanent residence. God comes to live inside of each of us who are saved!

Vs. 38 - Please note that it is repentance, turning to Christ which produces the remission of sins and the entrance of the Holy Spirit into the life. Many other verses in Scripture tell us that it is faith alone that saves!

But, there is to be an outward sign of what has happened inwardly. There is to be a believer's baptism. These folks were told to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

They were doing this because their sins had been remitted, forgiven. Believer's baptism is a testimony of one's faith in Christ.

These folks were told to be baptized. Please note that any time baptism is mentioned in the Bible that it always takes place after someone has made some sort of commitment.

It is not necessary to be baptized to be saved, but it is necessary in order to follow Christ in total obedience.

Vs. 41 - Those that gladly received the message of Peter were baptized after they had trusted Christ as Savior.

The model church has one faith - faith in Jesus Christ for salvation.

The testimony of that faith is believer's baptism.

Are you saved? Have you been baptized?

ONE FAITH

ONE FAMILY

When a person becomes a born-again Christian, he or she inherits a new family.

John 1:12 - But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:

Vs. 42 - Each one of us who are saved is now part of the family of God. It means we are all brothers and sisters. There is certain behavior that is to be practiced in the model church family.  They are shown to us here. I see four qualities which we should practice in this part of the Family of God.

1. THE FAMILY CONTINUED.

The church is not a place to drop in, get saved, and never come back. Someone who is truly committed to Christ is going to continue.

Notice how they continued. It was steadfastly.

The word steadfastly here literally means to be strong towards.

It means to endure in or persevere in.

When it says that they were steadfast it means that they were faithful. They could be counted on.

Notice that they continued steadfastly in the Apostles' doctrine.

The word doctrine here means "teaching".

The Apostles instructed the new believers.

It is of extreme importance that you are taught today, no matter if you are a new believer or an older one.

Good doctrine tells you how to live.

Good doctrine keeps you from blowing it.

Good doctrine perfects you for the work of service.

Without being taught and trained from God’s authority, the Bible, you will not mature in the things of the Lord Jesus Christ.

You will not be a model Christian.

We will not have a model church. 2 Timothy 4:2, 1 Timothy 4:13

Not only did these early converts continue in doctrine, but in fellowship.  The word here means "communion". Not the Lord's Table, but rather a sharing in common.  Here, I believe they are talking about sharing in their faith. As we share with each other what the Lord is doing in our lives, and what we are learning from the word of God, we will strengthen others.

Why do we need this fellowship?

Once we make a clear cut decision for Jesus Christ, we are going to experience rejection by those who don't believe. We will find ourselves to be a minority.

Let us, as family, have fellowship - Fellowship before and after services - Fellowship in testimony times - Fellowship in each other's homes - Fellowship at the Dairy Queen. But fellowship!

Part of fellowship included "Breaking of Bread".

This probably included Christians eating together on a regular basis, and the practice of remembering the Lord's Table sometime during those get-togethers.

The Lord instituted this memorial so that we would remember Him, and what He has done for us.  Don't neglect the participation in the Lord's Supper.

One last thing in which they continued was prayers.

Here, it is referring to public prayers.

There is a place for public prayer.

There is a place for private prayer.

We should participate in both. Acts 4:31

1. THE FAMILY CONTINUED

2. THE FAMILY WAS UNITED Vs. 44

This again reminds us of fellowship.

Here was a group that spent time with each other.

Here was a group that got along with each other.

This was probably a group that didn't let little matters bother them. And when big matters came up, they resolved them! Philippians 2:1-3

THE FAMILY CONTINUED

THE FAMILY UNITED

3. THE FAMILY SHARED Vss. 44-45

This was not communism, folks.

This was simply the people of God sharing with each other voluntarily, in order to meet needs.

The communal type living found here was temporary,

What do we learn from these verses?

We should be willing to share with those in need.

We should be willing to help meet the needs of other Christians. 1 John 3:16-18

When we take meals to those in need we are sharing.

When take a special offering for a special project to help someone, we are sharing.

When we contribute to the Deacons’ benevolent fund we are sharing.

Any time we, as individuals reach out to help a brother or sister, physically, spiritually, or emotionally, we are sharing! Galatians 6:10

THE FAMILY CONTINUED

THE FAMILY UNITED

THE FAMILY SHARED

THE FAMILY REJOICED Vss. 46-47a

Why did they have gladness?

·       Because of the resurrection of Jesus from the dead

·       Because of the forgiveness of sin and eternal life

·       Because they worshipped together

·       Because they fellowshipped together

·       Because they shared together

·       Because they were united

No wonder, they had gladness.

No wonder they had singleness of heart.

They were certainly living out the command of Jesus in John 13:34-35!

They were certainly carrying out the command of Psalm 100:1

We wonder why churches today are not places of gladness and praise to God. Each person needs to ask himself. Am I acting the way I should as a family member?

Am I continuing in teaching, fellowship, The Lord's Table and prayers with my brothers and sisters?

Am I united with my brothers and sisters?

Am I sharing with my brothers and sisters?

Am I rejoicing with my brothers and sisters?

ONE FAITH

ONE FAMILY

ONE FORCE - Vs. 47

Notice the positive testimony that the church had in the community!  They were one united force for Christ!

Later the church would be persecuted.

But early on there is a positive attitude towards the church!

When the world sees a church that loves God and loves and cares for its people, there is going to be a positive reaction. People will want what we have!

And notice who did the adding to the church.

The conditions were pleasing to God, and the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved!

The Lord Jesus will build His church here, if we are a model church.

To be a model church, you and I must do our part.

ONE FAITH - Trust in Christ alone, evidenced by baptism.

ONE FAMILY -

THEY CONTINUED

THEY UNITED

THEY SHARED

THEY REJOICED

ONE FORCE

This is an elaboration on a previously shared outline.

2 Timothy 3:10-17

STAND FAST!

STAND FAST IN AN EXPRESSIVE PATTERN

2 Timothy 3:10-11 - But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.

STAND FAST DURING AN EXPECTED PROBLEM

2 Timothy 3:12-13 - Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

STAND FAST FOLLOWING EXCEPTIONAL PRECEPTS

2 Timothy 3:14-17 - But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

REVELATION 11:15-12:17

INTENSE OPPOSITION

THE BACK OF THE BOOK #11

“Although the seventh trumpet sounds in 11:15, the judgments associated with it are not described until chapter 15.  Chapters 12-14 are a digression, taking readers back through the Tribulation to the point of the seventh trumpet by a different path. They describe the Tribulation not from God’s perspective, but from Satan’s. Chapters 4-11 focused on Christ taking back what is rightfully His by means of the seal and trumpet judgments. Chapters 12-14 focus on the ultimate human usurper, the final Antichrist, whose career spans the same time period as the seal and trumpet judgments.”                   John MacArthur, The MacArthur New Testament Commentary, Revelation 1-11, (Chicago, Moody Press, 1999), p. 309

Last time we saw an interlude between the sixth and seventh trumpet judgments. In this passage before us we now focus on the futile intense opposition of Satan. Satan will know that his days are numbered and will do all that he can to “snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat”.

PROCLAMATION FROM ON HIGH – 11:15-19

1. PRONOUNCEMENT – Vs. 15

·       The sounding of the seventh trumpet will lead to seven bowl judgments towards the end of the seven year Tribulation period.

·       When the seventh trumpet sounds there will be a great pronouncement in Heaven. The pronouncement is simply that this world has become the kingdom of Christ and that He will have eternal reign.  God’s program would soon be complete.

2. Praise – Vss. 16-17

·       Vs. 16 – The 24 elders, who represent the church, give unbridled worship to God for what He is doing.

·       Vs. 17 – These elders give us a lesson in how to worship God.  They praised God for who He is and what He would do.

3. PROMISE - Vs. 18

·       On the part of unrepentant men there is anger. God’s judgments already poured out should have led them to repentance.

·       From God there is the promise of judgment. Revelation 22:12

·       The promise for the Godly is rewards.  Not only will they enter God’s Kingdom, but they will be rewarded for their good works.  1 Corinthians 4:4-5

·       The promise to the ungodly is also rewards, but of a far more painful kind at “The Great White Throne”.  Revelation 20:11-15

4. PRESENCE      – Vs. 19

·       The Ark of the Covenant on earth was a picture of the ark in Heaven.  It is symbolic of God’s presence with believers and reminds us that we will abide with Him forever because of the shed blood of Christ.  The lightning and thunder speak of God’s judgment.

PARTICIPANTS IN THE DRAMA – VSS. 1-6

·       Vs. 1 - There are three participants introduced to us in these verses.  The first is a woman. Some think that this is Mary.  Some think that it is the church.  I agree with those who feel that it represents Israel.

·       Her description corresponds with Joseph’s dream in Genesis 37:9-11.

·       Israel is referred to as a woman in the Old Testament. Jeremiah 3:1, Ezekiel 16:32-35, Hosea 2:2

·       Israel is a key player in the Tribulation period according to Daniel 9:24-27.

·       Vs. 2 - The child that came forth out of Israel was her Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ.  The redeemer was promised back in Genesis 3:15.

·       Vs. 3 - The dragon is Satan, further identified in Verse 9 as “… the old serpent, called the Devil and Satan…”

·       “The seven heads represent seven consecutive evil world empires controlled by Satan and leading up to the revival of the Roman Empire. The ten horns represent the ten-nation confederacy that comes out of the seventh head, which is the revived Roman Empire controlled by Satan during the Great Tribulation.” David Levy, Revelation: Hearing the Last Word, (Bellmawr, NJ,  Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry Inc., 1999), pp. 138-139

·       Vs. 4 – The stars of Heaven represent the angels.  1/3 of them followed Satan when he rebelled against God.  Isaiah 14:12-15, Ezekiel 28:12-18

·       Satan tried to destroy Jesus through Herod right at his birth. Matthew 2

·       Vs. 5 – Jesus was victorious over sin and death when he died for our sins.  He ascended into Heaven and will rule with “a rod of Iron”.

·       Vs. 6 – Israel will be protected against Satan the last 3 ½ years of the Tribulation.

POWER STRUGGLE IN HEAVEN – Vss. 7-12

·       Vs. 7 - Michael is the only angel called an “archangel” and appears to be head of the angel armies and appointed protector of Israel. Jude 1:9, Daniel 10:12-13, 12:1

·       Satan’s realm is earth and the surrounding atmosphere (John 12:31, Ephesians 2:2), but he has access to God as “the accuser of the brethren”. Vs. 10, Job 1-2

·       Evidently Satan will make one last attempt to overthrow God.  There will be war in Heaven.

·       Vss. 8-9 - Michael and his forces will defeat Satan and will permanently be cast out of Heaven.  He will be limited to the earth.

·       Vs. 10 – Satan never misses an opportunity to accuse God’s people.  His terrible ministry will come to an end.  In the meantime our faithful high priest, the Lord Jesus, renders Satan’s accusations null and void.  1 John 2:1-2, Hebrews 7:24-25

·       Vs. 11 - The brethren that were being accused at this time were all Tribulation saints. They were victorious “by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony”.

PERSECUTION BY SATAN – Vss. 12, 13, 15, 17

·       Vs. 12 – A warning is given. Satan knows his time is short and he will pour out his wrath upon earth.

·       Vs.13 – Satan’s excommunication from Heaven probably corresponds with the breaking of Israel’s covenant with the Anti-Christ.  This is when Israel was warned to flee. Matthew 24:15-22

·       Vs. 15 – Satan will try to destroy Israel.  The flood is probably an army sent to pursue her.

·       Vs. 17 – Frustrated by his failure to destroy Israel, he turns his attention to all believers to persecute them.

PROTECTION FROM GOD – Vss. 14, 16

·       Vs. 14 – Israel will be supernaturally hidden and protected in the wilderness, probably in the mountains, and perhaps at Petra.  This will be a 3 ½ year period.

·       Vs. 16 – God will supernaturally deliver Israel from the “flood” of Satan’s attack.

·       Perhaps an earthquake will be the instrument God uses.

·       Rest assured that Israel will be protected.
