The Cycle
by J. Randal MathenyWater running down the stream
to empty in the sea;
I wade its sandy banks and dream
of where it carries me.The gargled blue turns brown with silt
and slows to mix with salt;
On such are flights of fancy built,
to invade Poseidon's vault.Once launched upon the ocean's wave,
a deeper current stirs;
I ride the depths from reef to cave,
with algae for my spurs.Picked up by wind and sun to sweep
the roiling clouds with rain,
I drop the heights in a single leap
to start my dreams again.1. Read online how this poem was created.
