by J. Randal Matheny[Written for and in the voice of Linetta M.,
on her daughter's 24th birthday and pending
wedding in June.]They say time flies when you're having fun,
It also flies before you're done;
It rides the Concorde far ahead,
Propellers carry me instead.
I married George just yesterday,
Today he's giving Leslie away.
When once I put our tyke to bed,
This kid is grown and off to wed.
When once I spooned her Cap'n Crunch,
Today she's taking me to lunch.
The little girl I used to feed,
The child I taught to write and read,
The babe with precious phrases said --
Those days are gone! And how they fled!----
