Dear friends,

How many of you struggle with being patient? I'd have to admit that
I do. I've learned how costly it can be to lack patience. Did you know,
however, that true patience is an attribute of love, and that this kind
of patient love comes from God? In the past week, there have been
several devotional messages on the Internet that have mentioned these
things. I can never seem to keep straight what I have shared from my
own reading and study, so I would simply like to point you to a few
chapters from scripture that speak about these things.

The first of these comes from 1 Corinthians 13, the famous chapter,
written by the apostle Paul to the church at Corinth. Verses 4-7, especially,
speak about this love: "Love is patient, love is kind..." Read that
chapter to find out about the attributes of God's love.

"The Disciple whom Jesus loved", John, who wrote the Gospel of John, and
the three epistles, 1, 2 3 John, and also the last book of the bible,
Revelation, has an excellent short letter about love, 1 John. You can
easily read the entire letter in one sitting. However, if you want to get
the gist of the message, read especially chapter 4. You can find the
