XREF - Records

I've been spending a lot of time over the last week trying to learn the ins
and outs of XREF and other memory related stuff that I've avoided up until
now (or at least as much as I can)
Now I've got another question that I can't seem to solve.
The staz site (at least thats where I think I found it) has a work around
for XREF ing through an array of records, however it does not show how one
can do this between local FN's. This would seem simple, but 6 hours of
experimenting (and lots of crashes) and I'm still trying to figure it out.
I want a dynamically sized array of records that I can use to store some
simple information (string and real number data). Anyone done this? My
guess is the key is in what you define as global. I've pulled a couple of
related egs of IB complete - but they are not quite the ticket (but at
least I should have some fun with them today!)
I have that lost in the maze feeling - the answer must be here somewhere,
but the more I look the more lost I get.
