We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

When God stands as witness to the covenant promises of a marriage it becomes more than a merely human agreement. God is not a passive bystander at a wedding ceremony. In effect he says, I have seen this, I confirm it and I record it in heaven. And I bestow upon this covenant by My presence and My purpose the dignity of being an image of My own covenant with My wife, the church.
John Piper

The local church was the womb that warmed our soul until it was ready for birth. The church fed us on the milk of the Word, providing us with many loving fathers and mothers. It stood with us when we presented our children to God, and it now mothers them. The local church has contributed much to our children’s spiritual nurturing (Kent and Barbara Hughes).

PERPETUAL VIRGINITY

BASIC R.C. BELIEF After the fifth century, many excess of devotion to Mary began to spring up. One was belief in her perpetual virginity (that Jesus was her only child). One of the reasons for this was to encourage men and women to seek celibate state as a higher level of spirituality. It came at a time when a decadent society regarded maternity as inferior to virginity.

The scripture used for this is Ezekiel 44:2.

POST VATICAN II In the Vatican II document OPTATIUM TOTIUS it says, “Virginal consecration to Christ is of greater excellence than Christian marriage” (10/28/65).
