God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)
It will be a wonderful moment for some of us when we stand before God and find that the prayers we clamored for in early days and imagined were never answered, have been answered in the most amazing way, and that God’s silence has been the sign of the answer. If we always want to be able to point to something and say, “This is the way God answered my prayer,” God cannot trust us yet with His silence.
Spiritual leadership is not won by promotion, but by prayers and tears. It is attained by much heart-searching and humbling before God; by self-surrender, a courageous sacrifice of every idol, a bold uncompromising, and uncomplaining embracing of the cross, and by an eternal, unfaltering looking unto Jesus crucified. This is a great price, but it must be unflinchingly paid by him who would be a real spiritual leader of men, a leader whose power is recognized and felt in heaven, on earth and in hell.
Slice the squash into one and one half inch rings. Remove seeds and strings
and place on buttered nonstick baking sheet. Top with remaining butter,
season with salt and pepper and bake at 375 degrees for approximately 25
minutes, turning once, so that the squash is cooked through and still
retains its shape.
