God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)
We have so much of the Pharisee in us by nature, that it is sometimes well that our good is hid from us... It is a good life which is attended with a faith of righteousness and a sense of corruption. While I know Christ’s righteousness, I shall the less care to know my own holiness. To be holy is necessary; to know it, sometimes a temptation.
The visible church may be distressingly and sorely fractured and fragmented into all different kinds of denominations and groups, but the invisible church is the true body of Christ. Everyone who is in Christ, and in whom Christ dwells, is a member of this one universal church.
Brown meat in a big skillet. Remove from heat and drain the fat, if any.
Add the onion, celery and tomatoes. Stir until well mixed. Place a layer of
shredded cabbage in the bottom of a greased 2 quart casserole dish. Spoon
over a layer of the beef mixture, alternating with the cab- bage and
finishing with the cabbage on top. Sprinkle with bread crumbs. Bake,
uncovered, for 1 hour at 350F. Serve with fried potatoes or fresh bread and
a light dessert.
