We must always insist that there is nothing we can do of ourselves to merit salvation. Salvation is “by grace…through faith” (Eph. 2:8). But when we accept His gift of salvation by faith we must know what this gift includes. We must know that it includes following Jesus as Lord. Otherwise people will think they have been tricked into accepting a way without being told what that way is. It is the grace of God that enables us to follow this way. It is all of grace. But it is a way in which sin is left behind and a righteous life is taken on. And when people accept that salvation that Christ offers, they must know that this is what they are accepting. Otherwise they would not be putting their faith in the Jesus of the Bible.
It is ironic when one stops to think about it. In an age when facilities for rapid communication of the gospel are available to the church as never before, there are actually more unevangelized people on the earth today than before the invention of the horseless carriage.
Blend marzipan, sugar and egg whites, and stir together until the dough is
evenly blended. Pour the sliced almonds out onto a plate. Form the dough
into small horns (crescents). Roll horns carefully in the almonds and place
them on baking paper (parchment paper) on a cookie sheet.
Bake horns for 10-12 minutes at 200 C (400 F). Melt chocolate in a double
boiler and dip the ends of the horns in the warm chocolate. Place horns on
parchment paper and allow chocolate to cool and solidify.
Makes about 20 horns.
NOTE: If desired, you could brush the unbaked almond horns with an
eggwhite/sugar wash to make them shiny and a little sweeter. I don't, but
it is always an option.
