We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

The Bible presupposes a love of self, a desire to experience pleasure and avoid pain, as inherent in the human makeup and as the ground of ethical imperatives. For example, loving ourselves is often used as a criterion in Scripture for the love of others (Mt. 19:19; Eph. 5:28). It is an assumed fact that we do love ourselves, and it is not evil to do so if it is done rightly… Thus Christianity, far from denigrating human worth, actually presupposes it in some of its fundamental teachings. Yet something has tragically blighted and twisted love of self into a gross perversion of God’s intent for His creatures. The fall of the human race into sin caused love of self to become mere selfishness. What was lost was a focus outside the self – that is, a love of God that gave it control and benevolence.
John Hannah

Temptation almost always begins in the flesh (James 1:14). Our flesh sets fire to sin. Satan simply fans the flames. Satan is powerless until we first say “yes” to sin. He exploits our sinful decisions, most often by intensifying the course of action we have already chosen (Eph. 4:26-27).

CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
1 Servings

INGREDIENTS

1 cn (12 oz.) oysters; fresh or frozen
Pepper
Paprika
1/2 ts Salt
2 ts Parsley; chopped
10 sl Bacon; cut in thirds

INSTRUCTIONS

While looking through the December issue of "Louisiana Country," the
publication for the rural electric cooperatives in that state, I noticed
these oyster recipes that sound worth trying, particularly the Angels on
Horseback (if you like spicy stuff, see my note after recipe).
Thaw oysters if frozen. Drain oysters. Sprinkle with parsley and
seasonings. Place one oyster on each piece of bacon. Wrap bacon around
oysters; secure with toothpick. Place on broiler pan. Broil about 4 inches
from heat source 8 to 10 min. or until bacon is crisp. Turn carefully.
Broil 4 to 5 min. longer or until bacon is crisp. Makes about 30.
MY NOTE: This sounds similar to something a friend makes called Oysters
Diablo. He wraps the bacon around the oyster (sometimes he uses shrimp for
(duh) Shrimp Diablo!) and a strip of jalapeno and bastes during the
broiling process with Worcestershire.
