We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

2 Peter 1:21 says, “Men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.” The Greek word for “moved” is “phero.” It’s a verb that is translated “bring, carry or bear.” It’s the same word that used twice in Acts 27 –Paul’s famous voyage to Rome – of the ship that was at the mercy of the breeze being caried by the wind. It’s origin of the English name, “Christopher.” Christos (Christ) – Phero (Bearing) – Bearing Christ. So, this tells us that the men who wrote Scripture did not have heightened powers or mystical visions or even an ear for God to dictate His word. Rather, they wrote what they knew to be true using their own words, style, experiences and personalities, but as they wrote, the Holy Spirit (pheuma-the same Greek word used in the Bible for wind) was bearing them along. Therefore, when they wrote they wrote the very Word of God.

Now nothing is more natural to fallen human beings than pride. Pride, frankly, is the defining sin of fallenness. If you want to get in touch with what it means to be fallen, it means to be self-centered. Self-love, self-satisfaction, self-promotion, self-exaltation, self-fulfillment, those are the passions of a fallen heart. Now in our world they are considered virtues because we live in an upside-down world. Society has come to terms with its fallenness and relabeled it as virtue.

INGREDIENTS

4 lg Cooking apples; (Courtlands work great), up to 6
1 Lemon
1 c Rolled oats; (add more if you want thicker crust)
3 tb Brown sugar
3 tb Sugar-in-the-raw; (or any other sugar. This just add texture PLUS sweetness)
1 tb Any butter or margarine
1/4 c Corn syrup
1 ts Cinnamon
1/2 ts Nutmeg

thinly than soft apples. In a separate bowl, mix together oats, sugar, and
spices. Add butter and corn syrup; mix until moist and crumbly. Sprinkle
evenly over apples. Place in microwave for 20 minutes on medium. Remove
from microwave and cover with plastic wrap. This is great with a piece of
