We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Biblical confession also includes a horizontal dimension – confession to one another, where we find powerful healing. Confession to God alone often does not lift us into the freedom we desire. With God alone, confession can be too easy. It is too easy to save face, and there is no healing, no release, in saving face, however earnest the confession to God might seem to be. Confession to God alone can be a way of not really facing ourselves and our sins. James 5:16 shows us where freedom can be found: “Therefore confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”
Ray Ortlund

God gave the law originally as a railroad track to guide Israel's obedience. The engine that was supposed to pull a person along the track was God's grace, the power of the Spirit. And the coupling between our car and the engine was faith, so that in the Old Testament, like the New Testament, salvation was by grace, through faith, along the track of obedience (or sanctification).

INGREDIENTS

3 c Longgrain unconverted white rice
6 tb Vegetable oil
1 md White onion,; finely chopped
2 Cloves garlic,; peeled and minced
7 c Water

INSTRUCTIONS

Pour hot water over the rice and let it stand for about 10 minutes. Drain
the rice and rinse well in cold water. Let the rice drain for a few
minutes.
In a mediumsize saucepan with a tightfitting lid, heat the oil over a
mediumlow heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until translucent,
stirring constantly. Add the rice and cook just until the grains are coated
with the oil.
Add the water and cook, uncovered, over a medium heat until the liquid has
been absorbed and small air holes appear on the top of the rice. Do not
stir.
Wrap the lid of the saucepan with a small terry cloth dish towel. Place the
lid tightly over the saucepan so that none of the steam can escape. Set
aside in a warm place for about 20 to 30 minutes, so that the rice can
continue to cook and the grains expand. Stir the rice well before serving.
Yield: 8 to 12 servings
