God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Fly from all occasions of temptation, and if still tempted, fly further still. If there is no escape possible, then have done with running away and show a bold face and take the two-edged sword of the Spirit. Some temptations must be taken by the throat as David killed the lion; others must be stifled as David hugged the bear to death. Some you had better keep to yourselves and not give air. Shut them up as a scorpion in a bottle. Scorpions in such confinement die soon, but if allowed out for a crawl and then put back into the bottle and corked down, they will live a long while and give you trouble. Keep the cork on your temptations, and they will die of themselves.

For Jesus, there is no better way to illustrate God’s free unmerited grace than pointing to a child. For unlike many adults, children are generally entirely unpretentious about receiving a gift. Moreover, “little ones,” that is, the least, regardless of age, are a repeated focus in Jesus’ teaching on discipleship (Mt. 18:5; Lk. 9:48). Indeed, God’s kingdom must be entered in a childlike spirit, a lesson that was yet to be learned by Jesus’ followers.

Eggs, Dairy Greek Appetizer 15 Servings

INGREDIENTS

8 Eggs
1 1/4 lb Greek Feta cheese; crumbled
1 lb Cottage cheese
1/4 c Parmesan cheese
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
1 lb Filo pastry
3/4 lb Butter; melted

INSTRUCTIONS

Beat eggs until light and creamy. Fold in crumbled Feta, cottage and
Parmesan cheeses. Season with salt and pepper. Place half of pastry sheets
in buttered 11x17 pan, brushing each pastry sheet individually with butter.
DO NOT SUBSTITUTE WITH MARGARINE. Pour in cheese filling. Cover with
remaining half of pastry sheets, brushing each with butter. Brush entire
pie generously with butter. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 45 minutes, or
until golden. Cut into squares, while still hot, and serve warm. This may
be prepared and frozen.
Working with filo pastry is a little difficult, but this dish is very
different and delicious so it's well worth the trouble.
