We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Jesus is the pioneer [when suffering]. His passion began with sorrow, betrayal, and abandonment: “Father, let this cup pass from me.” The silence of a lamb before its shearers. “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” “I am thirsty.” This sufferer loved His enemies, as we are called to do. “Today you will be with Me in paradise.” “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” “Woman, behold your son…Behold your mother.” It wrapped up in commitment and hope: “It is finished.” “Into your hands I commit my spirit.”
David Powlison

Love for God is the only sufficient motive for evangelism. Self-love will give way to self-centeredness; love for the lost will fail with those whom we cannot love… Only our Love for God and, more important, His love for us will keep us from the dangers which beset us. When the desire for popularity with men, or for success in human terms, tempts us to water down the Gospel, to make it palatable, then only if we love God will we stand last by His truth and His ways.

INGREDIENTS

1 c Sugar, Cream
1 c Butter, Cream
2 Whole Eggs, add
1 ts Baking Soda, add
1 ts Vanilla, add
1/2 ts Salt, add
2 ts Cream of tartar, add
2 tb Milk, add
3 c Flour, Blend

INSTRUCTIONS

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and other ingredients. I make small
balls and press with a glass dipped in sugar, either plain or
colored. This will also roll out for cutting. I have used a plastic
easter egg as a cutter at Easter with colored sugar sprinkles. Aunt
Gladys got it from the cook on the ranch in Wyoming and packed them
in ice cream cartons (those round ones--anyone remember?) for the
men. When I married and moved to Louisiana, they called them Teacakes!
