We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

[Faith] is trust in God's character and obedience to His living voice expressed in His Word. Consequently the object of faith in the Old Testament is the promise of God which awaits its fulfillment in the coming of Christ. Faith looked forward then, just as now it looks backward to its object in Christ. It is interesting to notice how this is expressed in the teaching of Hebrews that “faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see (Heb. 11:1).” In fact this perspective runs through the whole of Hebrews 11-Noah...Abel...Enoch...and Abraham “did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance (vs. 13).” Even the martyrs who were commended for their faith did not receive what had been promised (vs. 39). Faith for them was hearing the testimony of God, trusting His promise, and living in the light of God's faithfulness to it.

For some reason, it is easier to jump to negative conclusions about people than it is to assume the best about them. When we do this, we ascribe to them bad intentions and evil purposes that may not be true. We also reveal something about ourselves, for the faults we see in others are actually are reflection of our own.

CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
Vegetables, Eggs, Dairy American Vegetable 8 Servings

INGREDIENTS

1 (5-7 lb) pumpkin
6 Whole eggs
2 c Whipping cream
1/2 c Brown sugar
1 tb Molasses
1/2 ts Fresh grated nutmeg
1 ts Cinnamon
1/4 ts Ginger
2 tb Butter

INSTRUCTIONS

This dish was a favorite of George Washington. While it was called a pie
in the old days, it's certainly not what we call a pie now. Here the
custard pie is found inside the pumpkin and the whole thing is to be served
up with a bit of anticipation for a very different pumpkin dessert.
Cut the lid off the pumpkin just as you would for a jack-o'-lantern.
Remove the seeds and save for toasting later.
Mix the remaining ingredients together with the exception of the butter.
Fill the pumpkin with this mixture and top with the butter. Cover with the
pumpkin lid and place in a baking pan. Bake at 350° for 1 to 1-1/2 hours,
or until the mixture has set like a custard.
Serve from the pumpkin at your table, scraping some of the meat from the
pumpkin with each serving.
This is an interesting substitution for the usual pumpkin pie.
