As I understand it, a worship leader exercises various gifts listed in 1 Corinthians 12, Romans 12, Ephesians 4, and elsewhere. These include pastoring, leading, administration, and teaching. Under the oversight of the pastor, he combines those gifts with musical skill to care for, guide, and instruct God’s people as they sing His praises.

No matter how terrible they may be, the hardships and tragedies of human living that often befall Christians are not the crosses of which Jesus speaks. Such things as a cruel spouse, a rebellious child, a debilitating or terminal illness, the loss of a job, or destruction of a house by a tornado or flood, may strongly test a believer’s faith; but those are not crosses. The cross of a believer is not a mystical or spiritual identification with the cross of Christ or some “crucified life” idea. Such concepts are foreign to the context, and the cross of Christ was yet future when Jesus spoke here. The disciples would hear cross and think only of physical death. A cross is the willing sacrifice of everything one has, including life, for the sake of Christ. It is something that, like the Lord Himself, a believer must take on himself when it is thrust upon him by the unbelieving world because of his relationship to God.

Baked Ziti With Spinach And Tomatoes

INGREDIENTS

3/4 lb Hot Italian sausages
casings removed
1 Onion, chopped
3 Garlic cloves, chopped
1 Diced peeled tomatoes
28-ounce
1/4 c Purchased pesto sauce
10 oz Ziti or penne pasta, about
3 cups
freshly cooked
8 c Ready-to-use spinach leaves
about 2/3 of
10-ounce package
6 oz Mozzarella cheese, cubed
1 c Grated Parmesan cheese
about 3 ounces

INSTRUCTIONS

Heat heavy large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add sausage, onion
and garlic and saute until sausage is cooked through, breaking up  meat
with back of spoon, about 10 minutes. Add tomatoes with juices  to pan.
Simmer until sauce thickens slightly, stirring occasionally,  about 10
minutes. Stir in pesto. Season sauce with salt and pepper.  (Can be
prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate. Bring to simmer  before
continuing.)  Preheat oven to 375 F. Lightly oil 13 x 9-inch glass
baking dish.  Combine pasta, spinach, mozzarella and 1/3 cup Parmesan
cheese in  large bowl. Stir in hot tomato sauce. Transfer mixture to
prepared  baking dish. Sprinkle remaining 2/3 cup Parmesan cheese over.
Bake  until sauce bubbles and cheeses melt, about 30 minutes.  Bon
