I would like to buy three dollars worth of God, please. Not enough to explode my soul or disturb my sleep, but just enough of Him to equal a cup of warm milk or a snooze in the sunshine. I don't want enough of Him to make me love a black man or pick beets with a migrant. I want ecstasy, not transformation. I want the warmth of the womb, not a new birth. I want a pound of the Eternal in a paper sack, please. I would like to buy three dollars worth of God, please (Wilbur Reese).
If the strength of the church should be determined by its impact on its surrounding culture, we desperately need an injection of spiritual life. The present powerlessness of the church may be a sign that God has withdrawn His blessing that we might seek Him.
1 c Crisco oil 1/2 c butter, melted 3 x lrg eggs 2 c sugar 2 1/2 c flour 2
ts cinnamon 2 ts baking soda 1 ts salt 2 ts vanilla 1 c Harvard beets 1/2 c
creamed cottage cheese 1 c crushed pineapple, drained 1 c chopped nuts 1/2
c coconut Mix together oil, butter, eggs, sugar. Add in flour, cinnamon,
soda, salt. Fold in vanilla, beets, cottage cheese, pineapple, nuts and
coconut. Pour into 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes. Serve
