God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

The truth is, those who claim miracles today are not able to substantiate their claims. Unlike the miracles in the New Testament, which were usually done with crowds of unbelievers watching, modern miracles typically happen either privately or in religious meetings. The types of miracles claimed, too, are nothing like New Testament miracles. Jesus and the apostles instantly and completely healed people born blind, a paralytic, a man with a withered arm – all obvious, indisputable miracles. Even Jesus’ enemies did not challenge the reality of His miracles! Moreover, New Testament miracles were immediate, thorough, and permanent. Our Lord and His disciples never did a miracle slowly or incompletely.

Is it possible that the biblical texts were ignorant about homosexual orientation and were thus prohibiting only “unnatural” homosexual practice by participants of heterosexual orientation? This would suggest that the practicing homosexuals in the Bible were involved in homosexuality against their natural inclinations. Yet the nature of sin is that people sin because they want to sin (James 1:13-15). It comes from our desires. No one is dragged into sin kicking and screaming. Homosexuality existed in biblical times because people enjoyed it; they were drawn to it by their own hearts (Mark 7:21-23). An artificial distinction between (sinful) homosexual practice and (justifiable) homosexual orientation contradicts the Scripture’s constant connection of desire, orientation and deed. If the deed was prohibited in Scripture, the desire was too.

CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
Meats, Dairy A, Year, At, Ballymaloe 10 servings

INGREDIENTS

800 g Whole beetroot
225 g Onions
25 g Butter
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 l Chicken stock
Cream
125 ml Softly whipped sour cream
Chives; finely chopped

INSTRUCTIONS

CHIVE CREAM
Wash the beetroot carefully under a cold tap. Don't scrub it, simply
rub off the oil with your fingers - you don't want to damage the skin
or cut off the top or tails because the beetroot will 'bleed' in the
cooking. Put the beetroot in to boiling water and simmer, covered,
for anything from 20 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the size. The
beetroot are cooked when the skins will rub off easily.
Meanwhile, chop the onions and sweat carefully and gently in the
butter until they are cooked. Chop the beetroot and add the onions.
Season with salt and pepper. Put into a liquidizer with the chicken
stock. Liquidize until quite smooth. Reheat, add a little cream,
taste and adjust the seasoning - it may be necessary to add a little
more stock or cream.
Serve garnished with swirls of whipped sour cream and a sprinkling of
chives.
