It is of no use for any of you to try to be soul-winners if you are not bearing fruit in your own lives. How can you serve the Lord with your lips if you do not serve Him with your lives? How can you preach His gospel with your tongues, when with hands, feet, and heart you are preaching the devil’s gospel, and setting up an antichrist by your practical unholiness?
The more holy someone or something is, the more separate he or it is from things that are common or normal. The opposite of holiness is not sinfulness. It is commonness – or, to use the old word, profaneness. When God says He is holy, He means that He is different from us. He means that He constantly and actively separates Himself from all sin, wickedness, evil, and moral corruption – that is, all that is common to this world.
For crust: Combine 1 1/2 sticks butter, 1/2 cup sugar, egg, flour, baking
powder and 1 teaspoon vanilla; spread onto a greased jelly roll pan.
For topping: Melt 2 sticks butter with 1 cup sugar. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla,
honey and almonds. Mix well. Bring to a boil, stir, let cool and spread
evenly over crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or golden brown.
