We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

The real sting of suffering is not misfortune itself, nor even the pain of it or the injustice of it, but the apparent God-forsakenness of it. Pain is endurable, but the seeming indifference of God is not…We think of Him as an armchair spectator, almost gloating over the world’s suffering, and enjoying His own insulation from it. It is this terrible caricature of God that the cross smashes to smithereens.
John Stott

The next time your heart is indifferent toward sin, think for a moment of what sin cost your Savior on the cross. Think about His lacerated back ripped open to the bone from the Roman scourge. Think how He suffered for a breath of air as He extended His bloody body up the vertical beam of the rugged cross. Think about the splinters that dug deeper into His freshly cut wounds with every movement. Think about the large spikes that pierced His hands and His feet penetrating deeply into nerve endings. Think of the slow suffocation as Jesus hung there in the nude, mocked by the onlookers. Jesus didn't die for His own sin; He died for ours. '[He was] pierced through for our transgressions… [He was] crushed for our iniquities' (Isa. 53:5). Does the love of Christ compel you to turn from that which brought Him unspeakable anguish?

This makes a terrific main dish for two. Heat water and peas to boiling in
2-quart saucepan. Boil uncovered 2 minutes; reduce heat. Add ham. Cover and
simmer 30 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beans are tender (do
not boil or peas will burst); drain.Cook okra, onion, salt, garlic and red
pepper sauce in oil in saucepan about 5 minutes or until onion is softened.
Stir in cilantro, tomato and peas. Heat until mixture is hot. 1/2 cup: 150
