We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

God’s love is active. He decided to love you when He could have justly condemned you. He’s involved. He’s merciful, not simply tolerant. He hates sin, yet pursues sinners by name. God is so committed to forgiving and changing you that He sent Jesus to die for you. He welcomes the poor in spirit with a shout and a feast. God is vastly patient and relentlessly persevering as He intrudes into your life. God’s love actively does you good. His love is full of blood, sweat, tears, and cries. He suffered for you. He fights for you, defending the afflicted. He fights with you pursuing you in powerful tenderness so that He can change you. He’s jealous, not detached. His sort of empathy and sympathy speaks out, with words of truth to set you free from sin and misery. He will discipline you as proof that He loves you. God Himself comes to live in you, pouring out His Holy Spirit in your heart, so that you will know Him. He puts out power and energy. God’s love has hate in it too: hatred for evil, whether done to you or by you. God’s love demands that you respond to it: by believing, trusting, obeying, giving thanks with a joyful heart, working out your salvation with fear, delighting in the Lord.
David Powlison

The summary of the gospel is that our Lord Jesus Christ, the true Son of God, has revealed the will of His heavenly Father to us, and with His innocence has redeemed us from death, and has reconciled us with God. Therefore, Christ is the only way to salvation for all those who have been, are, and will be.

1 ts Baking soda
1/2 ts Baking powder
1 ts Cinnamon
1/2 ts Allspice
1 c Firmly packed light brown sugar
1 1/3 c Fresh pumpkin puree

1/4 c Evaporated milk
1 c Blueberries
2 tb Flour
2 tb Brown sugar
1/4 ts Cinnamon
1 tb Butter or margarine

INSTRUCTIONS

STREUSEL
Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. Combine pumpkin, egg, oil and
evaporated milk in a medium bowl. Stir wet ingredients into dry ingredients
and stir just until mixture is moistened. Fold in blueberries. Fill paper
lined muffin pans and sprinkle tops with streusel. Bake at 350 F for about
40 minutes or till a pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Streusel: Combine flour, sugar and cinnamon. Cut in butter until mixture is
crumbly.
Mardi's Notes: The original recipe called for 1/3 cup shortening instead of
the oil and 1 cup solid pack pumpkin. I changed to using the oil and a
smaller amount of fat to make them more heart smart and found they made a
nice moist muffin anyway, probably because of the pumpkin. If using solid
pack pumpkin, you may need to increase the liquid a little depending on the
moisture content of your flour. The method in the original called for the
shortening, sugar and egg to be creamed together and then the dry
ingredients to be added alternately with the wet.
I accidentally baked these at 400 F for 18 minutes and they turned out
about right.
