Appearances can be deceptive. The fact that we cannot see what God is doing does not mean that He is doing nothing. The Lord has His own timetable. It is we who must learn to adjust to it, not vice versa. When God’s time comes nothing will stand in His way. We can therefore wait for Him with this happy confidence: “As for God, His way is perfect” (2 Samuel 22:31).
He that can toy with his ministry and count it to be like a trade, or like any other profession, was never called of God. But he that has a charge pressing on his heart, and a woe ringing in his ear, and preaches as though he heard the cried of hell behind him, and saw his God looking down on him- oh, how that man entreats the Lord that his hearers may not hear in vain!
Flavour (original recipe used 1 tablespoon instant coffee, can
substitute 1 teaspoon vanilla essence etc.)
Mix 1/3 cup milk with cornstarch in bowl. Boil rest of milk with
sugar in saucepan. If the flavour is something that needs dissolving
(eg the instant coffee), stir it into the milk. Stir milk mixture
into corn starch mixture. Return to saucepan and boil mixture while
stirring until thick and smooth.
Take off heat and allow to cool, stirring often. Add flavour if not
already added. Beat butter in large bowl until smooth. Add
milk-cornstarch mixture and beat well. Makes enough to fill and top
a 9 inch cake.
